Hello! Welcome to our blog! We have no idea what we are doing, and so therefore thought it might be quite comical to document our journey here. We're thrilled that you've decided to stop by!
We are a family of 6 (a mom, a dad, 2 girls and 2 boys) who love Jesus more than anything else. We thought we'd use this blog as a way to document our newest adventure - HOMESCHOOLING! We've decided to pull our kids out of the awesome private school they were previously enrolled in, and begin a homeschooling adventure. Some may call us crazy, but we like to keep things interesting around here. (Like that one time we found out we were pregnant with our 3rd child just 4 months after giving birth to our 2nd child...but I digress...) There are SO many things we love about the private school our children attended. So many things. However we so strongly feel led to homeschool this year (2017-2018), so we are just trusting God to guide our steps as we march forward with this!
We first started contemplating homeschooling during May of this year. As the 2016-2017 school year came to a close, we both prayed for clarity for this upcoming year as we just felt unsettled (we still don't know why God is leading us down this path, but we for sure trust that His ways are higher than our own!). God quickly showed us that homeschooling is what we need to do for all 4 of our kiddos, at least for the upcoming year. "Ok, great!" we thought. "We've got this. Let's start looking into our curriculum options." (Insert super sarcastic laugh here)
Holy curriculum choices, Batman! We literally had NO clue what we were getting ourselves into, no clue. The choices for curriculum are literally endless. And many of them super pricey. One of the MANY reasons we ultimately chose to leave the private school, was so save some cash, so we kinda felt like we were back at square one! Until one incredible day when I stumbled upon something scrolling on Pinterest. We feel like we totally hit the jackpot! We found a completely FREE, completely online, completely Bible-based curriculum! For real, if you're even curious at all about homeschooling, you MUST check this out. Its called Easy Peasy All in One Homeschool. And its literally just that. Easy peasy! Its a complete homeschool curriculum from preschool through grade 12. AHH so excited!
We began this morning. For this year we have a 4th grader, a 1st grader, a Kindergartener and a Preschooler. I'll be honest, it was quite hectic and exhausting peaceful and joyful trying to balance all 4 kids and their lessons for the day, but honestly, it went WAY better than I could've expected. We are all learning together which takes some of the stress off of me. The kids know that I've never done this before, so there's been a whole lot of grace (and COFFEE for mama) flowing through this house today.
We transformed our basement into a classroom this summer (pictures to come) and I have had an absolute blast decorating and purchasing little things to make it truly feel like school for the kids. The feedback I got earlier when I asked what they thought of Day 1, was a resounding "AWESOME!". I'm so glad because I was a little fearful that they'd hate it and be begging to go back to their other school. I mean I know its only Day 1 and things may get hecka crazy around here in the next few weeks, but I'll take that response from them today and remind them of it with this blog in a few weeks or months when they've had enough of me 😂
Anywhooo, that was a really long-winded novel about what we're up to and why we started this blog. We are all looking forward to what this next chapter will bring and how the Lord is going to grow us all! Stay tuned!
